Our MSC student programming committee members learn what it takes to get ahead after graduation.
Students plan and produce all of the MSC's programs. They recruit new members and develop promotional campaigns. They manage budgets and raise funds. And they perform more specialized tasks like running concert sound, installing art exhibitions, hosting dignitarties, and coordinating service projects.
Participation in an MSC committee helps make a large university like Texas A&M feel smaller and more manageable. Members often develop a strong circle of friends, and many of them work closely with MSC student development specialists. These networks of friends and advisors can play important roles in helping students succeed in college. Former members often cite memories of their MSC involvement as the most positive benefits of their college experience.
MSC members practice being leaders by getting actual experience participating in decision-making, planning, collaborating, and delegating. Most graduates have to wait years before they get the opportunity to practice being leaders, but when MSC members enter the professional world, they often find themselves ahead of their peers because of their actual leadership experience.
Professional networks can help start careers and help them progress. MSC members build their networks by collaborating with other students (all of whom will "go pro" one day), by meeting former members who remain active in the MSC through their support, by working with faculty and administrators to produce programs, and by participating in MSC programs, many of which feature business, civic, military, and academic leaders as speakers and facilitators.
If what we do sounds intriguing and you'd like to be part of producing MSC programs, then look into joining one of our 17 student programming committees or 6 resource areas.
You'll learn by doing. You'll get some fantastic professional and leadership experience. You'll meet great people who share your interests. And you'll be part of bringing great programs to Texas A&M students!
