A living memorial

On Aggie Muster Day, 1951 the Memorial Student Center was officially dedicated to all Aggies who died in World Wars I and II. A memorial plaque calling out the names of all those to whom the building was initially dedicated hangs just inside the northern entrance. In 1976, shortly after the end of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war, the building was rededicated to all Aggies who have died in all wars past, present, and future.

A living tradition

Since its beginning, the MSC has been the Texas A&M University student union. In this role, the MSC has not only been the campus “living room,” it has also helped students develop leadership and professional skills through its student programming function. The MSC—and now, the more comprehensive Memorial Student Center Complex—has a long tradition of giving students the opportunity to manage organizations and plan and produce programs. Many of those programs have become important parts of Aggie tradition.
